Kanazawa Travel with Baby

The 2nd leg of our 10-day Japan trip -Kanazawa.

Just for recap: 10- Day Japan Itinerary

Day 1-4: Kyoto Trip and Nara trip

Day 4-6: Kanazawa Trip

Day 6-8: Tokyo Trip

Day 8-10: Osaka Trip

We took Thunderbird express from Kyoto Station. This was covered in our unlimited JR pass. It took us 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach Kanazawa, Ishukawa Prefecture.

Summer comfortably slept for almost 2 hours in the train. I enjoyed watching the view and I listened to a lot of music while the hubby busy studying (masters student on board).

Kanazawa is the capital city of Ishikawa prefecture. The only reason we came here was my cousin Jen and her husband invited us here. We were only here for 2 nights and we had a great time catching up with my cousin. We stayed in their place which was nice. At least we are able to experience how to be a local here.

We reached Kanazawa Station and waited for my cousin and his hubby. It has a very grand and beautiful station with a shopping mall of course.

So the first thing you need to do when you reach Kanazawa is to EAT! My cousin brought me to this shop and she’s said this is the most famous pastry in Kanazawa. It’s Worlds second best Baked Melon- pan Ice cream! It was so delicious we went back for second round! You must try this.

So aside from Food, the reason why you must go to Kanazawa is this incredible garden.

Kanazawa is home of the famous enchanting Kenrokuen Garden. Kenrokuen Garden is one of the three most beautiful garden in Japan. It’s too bad we were here during summer because they said this is beautiful during spring and autumn but still beautiful. Nature lover like me will be amaze by this place.

Just adjacent to Kenrokuen garden is the grand Kanazawa Castle. You need to exit from Kenrokuen and walk pass a nice a scenic bridge to Kanazawa castle.

Our baby got hungry so there she was, drinking her juice and eating biscuit. If you are bringing a baby or a toddler make sure to bring your stroller or at least baby carrier because you will definitely need to walk a lot!

They have small snack shops in the garden itself but it’s expensive so it’s better that you are prepared for your baby’s snack.

What impressed me here was that how beautiful and neat is the landscape. Japanese value greenery and natural places. It was so quiet and serene here. Japanese was known for their gardens incorporated to water. People in japan believes that trees in forest or gardens can help to heal people. Their doctors even  prescribes hours in the woods for certain ailments and conditions. This is getting more popular around the world but something that is not new in Japan. After visiting Japan, I got interested in Shinrin-Yoku and been practicing it often ever since. This book helped me a lot in understanding this nature gift to us humans.

This green tea ice cream was so beautiful and precious as they embellished it with gold flakes as you can see. It took me few minutes before I eat it as it was just so pretty.

Next stop. Tokyo! See you there❤️😎

Though being with a toddler in all my trips are challenging, it is possible and it can be done. The the joy they can bring is just immeasurable .

The benefits of bringing your child to nature trip are amazing! These books motivates me a lot when it comes to the importance of outdoor play and open-air learning :
